Alors, ta journée s’est bien passée ?

So, did you have a good day?

Oui ! I went for a really long walk.

Tu peux dire : « J’ai fait une longue promenade. »

You can say: “I went for a long walk.”

Tu es allé où ?

Where did you go?

A little French. A little help. Still your conversation.

It starts
with a person.

You remember the phrase your friend used over coffee. The joke from a hostel kitchen. The message that made you smile.

Merdi starts with that feeling: an AI friend to talk to, and a language that becomes part of your day.

A message worth remembering

Merde… enfin, mercredi !

“Shit… I mean, Wednesday!”

A French friend taught our founder a playful way to almost swear. Years later, the word still stuck.

That’s where “Merdi” began.

Keep the chat going.

A word you don’t know shouldn’t be the end of a conversation. This is the kind of help we’re building.

A little context

J’ai un petit creux.

What does that mean?

“I’m a little hungry.” Literally, a little hollow feeling. A very useful phrase around snack time.

A gentle correction

Je suis faim.

Presque ! On dit « J’ai faim ».

Almost! In French, you “have” hunger.

On mange quelque chose ?

A useful correction, then something worth replying to.

From a hostel kitchen
to your pocket.

Merdi grew out of studying in London, travelling solo, and meeting people from all over the world.

Learning a language felt different when there was someone on the other side. Someone with a story, a sense of humour, and a reason to message again.

That’s the feeling we want to bring to everyday practice.

A few good questions.

Am I chatting with a real person?

Merdi’s friends are AI characters. The idea is a personal, familiar conversation, with language help woven into it. They aren’t human tutors or other users.

Do I need to know French already?

We’re designing Merdi so you can start small: a greeting, a short answer, or a mix of French and English. The conversation examples above show how that can feel.

Can I use Merdi in a browser?

Yes. We’re building a browser version alongside the iOS and Android app. The current preview includes account sign-in; AI conversations are still being built.

Which languages are coming?

French is our first conversation preview. More languages are part of the plan, and we’ll share the supported list as the app develops.

Is Merdi available yet?

Merdi is in development. You can explore the app preview and these example conversations today. We haven’t announced a launch date or pricing.
