Terms of service
Last updated: 1 November 2026
These terms apply to Merdi’s website at merdi.ai and our language-learning app, including app.merdi.ai. By using Merdi, you agree to these terms.
Using Merdi
Merdi helps you practise languages through conversations with AI characters. The service is in development, so features, availability, supported languages, and usage limits may change. Some features shown in examples or previews may not yet be available.
You must be at least 13 and meet any higher minimum age required in your country. If you are not old enough to enter into these terms on your own, you need a parent or guardian’s permission and supervision.
Your account
Provide accurate account information and keep your sign-in credentials secure. You are responsible for activity you authorise through your account. Do not share credentials, impersonate another person, or access an account without permission. Third-party sign-in services are also subject to their own terms.
AI friends and learning content
Merdi’s friends are fictional AI characters, not real people. Replies, translations, and corrections are generated automatically and can be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate. Use your own judgment and check important information with a reliable source.
Merdi is for language practice. It does not provide professional medical, legal, financial, or emergency advice, and it does not guarantee a particular learning outcome or fluency level.
Your content
You retain any rights you have in the content you submit. You give Merdi permission to store, process, and transmit that content as needed to provide the service, including sending conversation context to AI providers to generate replies. This permission is limited to operating the service as described in our privacy policy.
Only submit content you have the right to use. Do not share another person’s confidential or sensitive information without permission. AI output may resemble content generated for others, and we do not promise that it is unique or free of third-party rights.
Acceptable use
You must not use Merdi to:
- Break the law, infringe others’ rights, or distribute illegal content.
- Threaten, exploit, harass, or harm another person.
- Attempt to access other users’ data, compromise security, or disrupt the service.
- Bypass usage limits or use automation that places an unreasonable load on the service.
- Misrepresent AI-generated content as communication from a real Merdi friend.
Merdi’s content and branding
Merdi’s branding, designs, and service content belong to Merdi or the relevant rights holders. These terms allow you to use the service for its intended purpose; they do not transfer ownership of those materials. Merdi is an independent product and is not affiliated with WhatsApp or Meta.
Availability and changes
We may change, suspend, or discontinue features and apply usage limits. We may restrict an account when reasonably necessary to address a breach of these terms, a security issue, or a legal requirement. You can stop using Merdi at any time.
Creating an account does not by itself authorise a payment. If paid features are introduced, their price and payment terms will be shown before you choose to purchase them.
Responsibility
We aim to provide a useful and reliable service, but do not guarantee uninterrupted access, error-free operation, or accurate AI output. To the extent permitted by applicable law, Merdi is provided on an “as available” basis. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limits your mandatory consumer rights.
Privacy and updates to these terms
Our privacy policy explains how information is handled. We may update these terms as the service develops and will update the date above. Material changes will be brought to your attention through the service. If you do not agree to revised terms, stop using Merdi before they take effect.
