You should not need to introduce yourself every time
An AI language partner with memory can give a short message more context. If you told a character that you are preparing for a trip, a later conversation can connect to that plan. If you often talk about cafés, there is already a familiar subject to return to.
Merdi keeps selected details you explicitly share as remembered facts. Your recent messages and relevant earlier exchanges also help the character respond. These are different kinds of context: a saved detail might describe a preference, while the conversation history shows what you actually said around it.
Useful details, rather than a perfect recording
A favourite drink, a learning goal or a plan you mention can make later practice more personal. You might explain the same idea in a little more detail next time, ask a follow-up question or use a phrase from an earlier exchange.
Memory is selective. The character does not have perfect recall of everything you have ever written, and it can misunderstand a detail. It can look up relevant saved facts or past conversation when answering, but that does not make every recollection correct. If it gets something wrong, tell it what you meant.
You can see and change what is saved
Open Contact info from the conversation header and find Remembered about you. The saved details are readable, with controls to edit an entry or forget it. If you used to prefer coffee but now prefer tea, you can correct the saved preference instead of repeatedly explaining the change.
Forgetting removes that saved fact. It does not erase the original message from the conversation history. This distinction matters if you are deciding what to share: use the memory controls to manage remembered details, and see the privacy policy for the broader handling of account and conversation data.
Your context and the character’s story are different
Your memories describe things you have shared. The character also has a fictional background and saved life events of its own. A standard character can have the same backstory for several learners while each conversation remains separate.
That separation lets you have your own ongoing chat without turning your personal details into someone else’s conversation. It also gives you two natural sources of topics: what is happening for you, and what is happening in the character’s continuing story.
